What this policy covers
This policy applies to aoe2viewer.com, the AOE2 game viewer Windows app, and the support services behind them.
Website data
The website is a static site. It stores your selected language in your browser local storage under aoe2viewer.locale. The site does not set its own analytics or advertising cookies in the current version. It also requests the public sponsor list from api.aoe2viewer.com.
Data stored on your device by the app
The Windows app stores things such as followed players, selected player and view state, language override, and support prompt state on your device so the app can reopen the way you left it.
Data sent to our backend
When the app detects a logged-in Steam account, it may sync your Steam ID, Steam display name, first and last login timestamps, followed players, and last-open view state to api.aoe2viewer.com. This is used to restore your setup across sessions and remember support status.
Support and payments
When you open the support flow, the service may use your IP address and country to choose a payment provider and currency. If you complete a support purchase, we may store your Steam ID, Steam name, support amount, country, sponsor-list choice, order status, timestamps, and payment-confirmation payloads required to verify the payment.
FastSpring checkout sessions include an internal alias email based on your Steam ID together with your Steam name and sponsor-list choice. WeChat payment records may include your IP address and transaction IDs.
Public sponsor list
If you opt in, your Steam name may be shown publicly on the sponsor list at aoe2viewer.com. If you do not opt in, your support is not added to that public list.
Public game and community sources
The app uses public or community data sources such as Age of Empires stats, aoe2recs, AOE2 Companion, AOE Elo, and Liquipedia. When related features are used, those services may receive standard request data from your device or from the services that fetch data for the app.
How we use data
- Run replay, live spectate, language, update, and support features.
- Sync followed players and last-open state for logged-in Steam users.
- Process payments, verify sponsorships, and show public sponsors only when they opt in.
- Protect the service and troubleshoot technical issues.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers and public data sources needed to run the product, including Cloudflare hosting, FastSpring, WeChat Pay, the IP lookup service used for payment routing, and the public or community game data sources listed above.
Your choices
You can browse the website without creating an account. You can clear the website language preference by removing site storage in your browser. In the app, you can leave the public sponsor option off if you do not want your name listed on the site.
